France – April 25th, 2013
A phytoplankton bloom can be seen off the coast of France, in the Bay of Biscay, roughly parallel to the French shoreline (click here for previous image). The bloom appears darkest to the southeast, indicating the greatest presence of the tiny microorganisms in that area. The green and blue tones in the northwestern half of the bloom may indicate multiple phytoplankton species.
